How many acres are in an area with a 10 mile radius?

It’s been years since I’ve done a calculation like this. Can you share the formula for calculating, too? Thanks.

A = ?r² is the formula you need. Then divide A by 43,560 ft², which are the number of square feet in an acre. You will also need to convert miles to feet to do your calculation:

A = ? [(10 mi)(5,280 ft/mi)]²
A = ? (52,800 ft)²
A = ? (2,787,840,000 ft²)
A ? 8,758,257,663 ft²

To find the area in acres, divide the figure above by 43,560 ft²/acre. Units behave just like numbers when we are dividing by fractions, so they will flip over when we divide one number by a fraction containing them, and in this case, ft² will cancel out, leaving the area in terms of acres:

A (acres) ? 8,758,257,663 ft² / (43,560 ft²/acre)
A (acres) ? 201,061.93 acres

The area is approximately 201 thousand and 61.93 acres.

Staying In Blackpool, The Uk’s Family Holiday Capital

The North West resort of Blackpool is frequently described as Britain’s holiday capital, and it soon becomes clear to the visitor why that is so.

Over ten million holidaymakers arrive at the resort each year, from all over the UK and worldwide.

Famed for its Tower, The Golden Mile and its world renowned Illuminations, the most popular attraction of all is in fact the Pleasure Beach, lined with rides and attractions including one of the steepest and scariest roller coasters in the world – the Pepsi Max Big One.

The Pleasure Beach also hosts a casino, magic shows, a theatre, amusement arcades, a bowling alley, a skating rink, not to mention several car parks, cafés and shops. Blackpool Tower was originally inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and the similarities are obvious. It can seen from anywhere within a thirty-mile radius of Blackpool. During the Second World War it was used as a radar station and today it is often featured in television film scenes and dramas  At its foot there is a circus, a ballroom, popular aquarium and a restaurant.

The Tower is lit up in autumn, giving it pride of place among a breathtaking array of Illuminations, always switched on by a celebrity late in August and visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year. As other seaside resorts are winding down after the summer Blackpool comes alive once again with what has been described as The Greatest Free Show on Earth.

Considering that Blackpool attracts more visitors each year than the whole of Greece (a staggering 16.8 million) it is perhaps not surprising that hotels and guest houses throughout the resort offer 120,000 beds, more in fact than the whole of Portugal.

A few of those beds are to be found at the Linton Hotel, situated in Rawcliffe Street, just a short walk away from the Promenade. Its en-suite rooms are amply kitted out with useful accessories and provisions.  The hotel boasts free parking, a hefty Full English Breakfast and low rates that make it exceptional value for money in a resort that is already fiercely competitive.

The Linton is a member of the Consortium of Independent Blackpool Hotels, to which local hoteliers are affiliating in ever-greater numbers. The Consortium is committed to providing the best holiday experience available at an affordable price.

There is nowhere in the UK, nor indeed anywhere else, that is quite like Blackpool. That is why it is the destination of choice for so many holidaymaker sseeking value and entertainment.
